Food Programs
For over 20 years the Bronx Baptist Church has been
providing Hot Meals and Food Packages to those community residents in need. In the early years
a choir was formed which was comprised of regular attendies who were homeless at that time. From the
beginning this program sought to provide a meal and lift the spirit of all who came in.
The Food Package Program is funded by the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies .
These ministries are fully volunteer run by members of the Bronx Baptist Church,
and although the "Hot Meals" Choir is no longer singing, we await a new generation of those who
will make a joyfull noise unto the Lord even in the midst of hardship.
Health Fairs
During the summer or fall months the Bronx Baptist
Church organizes a Community Health Fair and Block Party. This is a full day event which
has included screenings for prostrate cancer, STD's, Body Mass Index, breast cancer,
cholestrol, health information, and much more. Last year we had 20 minute full body massages
provided by a local massage chair company. We are also joined by our local Police Department
who provide presence and security, and the Fire Department who provide fun for the kids and
fire safety information for the adults including free smoke detectors.
Free food is provided for all including snow cones and fresh popped popcorn.
Many fun games are available for the children and young adults, such as
basketball, jump rope, carnival games, etc. Entertainment is provided by DJ or
live music.
This event is fully volunteer organized and food items and beverages are either
