Hello Church Family and Friends.

It is my hope and prayer that you are doing well and continue to practice all of the recommended and mandated safety precautions given by our state and local Health Departments and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).  Since Sunday, March 22, 2020 our worship services and essential activities have been held virtually.  We have remained in compliance with NYS mandates to close gatherings in a collective effort to mitigate the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).  On June 22, NYC entered phase 2 of its reopening process, which included churches being permitted to gather in person with up to 25% of its seating capacity.  Our Leadership Team decided that we will continue to meet virtually and form a Reopening Task Force to create and implement a reopening plan for Bronx Baptist.

The Reopening Task Force (RTF), meets weekly to discuss, discern, and decide on policies and practices, facility upgrades, safety protocols, ongoing property maintenance, and to prayerfully and carefully consider when we should transition back to in-person gatherings for worship.  We will not rush this process; we will be guided by the regulations and best practices as provided by the CDC, our medical scientists - national and state, and by diligent observation of the social and health climate in our city.  The health and best interest of our membership will be at the heart of our decision making.  In order to accomplish its task, the RTF has introduced our own BBC 3-phase plan for reopening.  As to not confuse our internal phases with the NYC reopening phases, we call our internal phases BBC1, BBC2, and BBC3.

BBC1 means that the church facility is open for employees, and essential volunteers only.  Essential volunteers are those persons involved in the following ministries or activities: food distribution, soup kitchen, music ministry, property management, finance, and The Learning Center.  During BBC1, no more that 10 persons are permitted on the property at any given time.  No other in-person or church site activities have been approved, and none should take place without seeking and being granted approval.  Any services, ministry or meetings that must take place virtually or via teleconference.

BBC2 means we will resume in-person worship services with essential staff, volunteers, and invited persons ONLY, with a maximum attendance of 25 persons.  The Learning Center will continue in-person daycare services in accordance with NYS/ NYC Department of Health guidelines.

BBC3 means we will commence larger gatherings for worship only as permissible by state/ city guidelines and resume select in-person services.

Please note that this is a tentative timeline and is subject to change.  Social events, fellowship hour, and other in-person activities, small groups, and pre and post church meetings will remain suspended or will occur virtually until further notice.

Supporting Others

As a reminder, there are many ways to support each other during this time.  Please ensure that you are making every effort to do the following:

  • Reach out to each other with phone calls, text messages, or via social media.  Our Deacons will also call all members.

  • Remember to check in frequently with our senior population, and volunteer to run errands for them if they live alone or do not have relatives close by.

  • Regularly check on and pray for our health and civic professionals who must leave home for work.

  • Recommend for people going through emotional distress to contact us using the email address

  • Remind each other that we have a food pantry; so, the church can provide food for persons in need.

  • Remain indoors as much as you can, and wear a mask whenever you must leave home.  Have disposable gloves handy as well.

  • Resist the urge to take anything for granted, as this pestilence has not yet passed.

  • Renew your mind by tuning in to our weekly worship service broadcast live on Facebook and posted after on our YouTube Channel

Although our church office is closed to the general public, we remain available via email at:, and

The Psalmist writes, “I will lift up my eyes to the hills—from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep.  The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand.  The sun shall not strike you by day Nor the moon by night.  The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.  The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore" (Psalm 121).

May the grace of God continue to preserve us through this pandemic, and the peace of God continue to abide in your heart and home.
